Rust & Crackle ATC by our guest designer Maria Lillepruun

Hello friends! 

Thank you for inviting me to gest design! 

My name is Maria Lillepruun. I am a mixed media artist from Estonia. I am also an eager ATC collector and I regularly make ATC sets to trade with other artists.  

So today I would like to show you my new set "Rust & Crackle". To make these ATCs I took 6 cardboard bases and covered them with gesso. Later on, I added quite a lot of crackle paste and let it dry completely. 

When the paste was dry, I colored the cards with alcohol inks. The metallic embellishments you see on top I also colored with alcohol inks first, before gluing them onto the cards. I attached some patterned paper pieces to the colored ATCs, and only after that, I glued the embellishments on top of it. 

Then I took the rust pastes of different color and applied them to the ATC background and the embellishments. To finish the set, I added some beads and microbeads as a final touch.

Zuzana Cedulová - MMW Guest Designer

Hello,

My name is Zuzana Cedulová and I am from Slovakia. I am devoted to the creation of 10 years and most often I make cards, ATC cards. Recently I’ve been working on the creation of mixed media and art journals.

Creating mixed media is my huge relax after stressful days because it's really a great relaxation. 

I'm looking forward to introducing my latest mixed media today.

I used a brown-blue combination of spray on this painting. It's my favorite color combination. Because I'm usually saving chipboards. I used them on the bottom of my painting. At the top, I used the ornaments embellishments, made of silicone molds. 

These decorations have a beautiful ornament and they add a beautiful grandeur to the picture.

Trzecia gościnna projektantka MMW | Third MMW Guest Designer

Hi, I'm Katarina aka kamadesign.

I've been crafting for about 16 years and when I started I tried everything from sewing, making my own soaps and candles to later jewelry, stamping and altering. Stamping and cardmaking always stuck with me as did jewelrymaking, sewing and mixed media altering. Lately I've been upcycling and repainting things like furniture. 

I never know where my creativity is going to take me, but I'm always excited to find out. My motto in crafting is to try everything at least once. I started by painting the whole box with gesso.

 Then I added smears of ranger's distress crayons in the colors rusty hinge, fossilized amber and peeled paint. I also used distress ink in the color evergreen bough and vintage photo here are there. I rubbed it all out using a stiff brush.

I then chose different papers from Graphic45's line"Voyage beneath the sea" and used ranger's matte collage medium to glue the pieces onto the box. Before I glued them on I distressed the edges and rubbed them with vintage photo distress ink.

After that it was a quest through my embellishments to find odds and ends that would fit this steampunk underworld scene. I found things like small gears, pieces of glass, goldwire, seashells, stones, mirrored mosaicpieces, pearlstring, a glasscabochon with fitting and a tiny handle that I colored with Annie Sloan's chalk paint. Just to name a few. 

The hardest part was to put it all together and it took quite a while to get it right. I focused a lot on the tiny details like painting one of the pearls black in the tiny glass vial, making a custom glass cabochon and a seastar"flower" to add to the corner. 

The box measures about 15x12.5x3.5cm and can be hung by the handle on top with a pearlstring.

Tworzę w różnych technikach, bo nie lubię nudy.

Moja inspiracja to mediowy romantyczny layout .

 Papier to Galeria Papieru - najlepsze życzenia. Użyłam kilku masek,

trochę kwiatków, tekturki, gipsowej rameczki i kryształków dla

odrobiny błysku. Wszystko pociapałam gessem i farbami akrylowymi,

jeszcze tylko kilka chlapnięć czarnym tuszem i gotowe :)

I felt in love with scrapbooking year ago and this love still lasts. 

 I create in diferent techniques, because I don't like monotony during the creating process.

My inspiration for today is romantic media layout. 

I used Galeria Papieru - best wishes paper and few masks, some

flowers, chipboards , small frame and crystals for

some bling :)
 After all I used gesso and acrylic paints.
Few splashes of black ink and that's it! :)

Something about Ola:

I'm Ola Homenok. I was born in Ukraine but in 25 last years I live in Israel. I am married and mother of two amazing children. I am a professional graphic designer, but after  my first son  birth (6 years ago)  I quit my job and began an independent business entirely dedicated to scrapbooking. Recently I fell in love with Mixed Media, so  whenever I find some free time, I spend it to create  a mixed media projects just for fun.

I've created motivational mixed media canvas :)
